明日から写真展　細川剛（たけし）ぼくのいる場所 – いま、自然ってなんだろう – が始まります

Takeshi Hosokawa cuts out the hidden beauty in our natural surroundings

会場がすっきりとミニマルで美しい　作品はパワフルかつ繊細でちょっと愛嬌もある

our exhibit room has become minimalistic – his photos are powerful, yet sensitive – and many of them are fun

「ここ撮ってごらんって、自然のほうが呼ぶんです」と細川さん　

撮影時暗闇や雨など心が不安な状態ほど感性が研ぎすまされ自然の美しさに気づくのだそうです

Hosokawa says, Nature calls him – and let him know where/what to see – he also pointed out that the time he feels more vulnerable is the best for finding motif that he has never encountered

自然界に溶け込むように生きている細川さんのお話 きっと楽しいことでしょう

Hosokawa will hold a gallery talk for his opening tomorrow at 10:30 at the TAC – we are looking forward to his anecdotes about rambling in Nature

銀座が好き　買い物には興味がありませんが散歩するとなかなか味のあるものを発見します

今回は魚と昆虫をどうぞ！

I like strolling Ginza (not for an extravagant shopping spree but purely rambling) – somehow, I’ve often come across some `odd scenes’ there – today, I’ll show you a fish (a part of a fish) & an insect

縁起がすこぶるいいらしいです　ここまで大きいフカヒレは

it is known as a `lucky fin’, apparently

松坂屋デパートの銀色の壁にて　つるつるしているのに何故ずり落ちないのかな〜

this department store wall looked slippery – someone please tell me how it can cling on to the smooth surface without sliding down!?

十和田市現代美術館には来館者のさまざまな願いが掛けられたリンゴの木があります

オノ・ヨーコの作品「念願の木」

この念願の木に実ったリンゴを皆さまにおすそ分けいたします

開館2年めの去年は黄色い実がひとつだけ成り ↓　あま〜い香りを漂わせていました

last year, Yoko Ono’s work `Wish Tree’ bore a single yellow apple (no, it wasn’t green) – this year, we will be giving out some apples to a lucky few who will be selected at random from those who send in their details

今年はもっと多くのリンゴが実ることでしょう　皆さんの願いがこもっていますから

please fax or email us with your name, address & contact number (deadline 30th September) – we ‘wish’ many, many apples will reach many, many people

東京に戻りました　今夜はちょっとおめかししてお出かけ

フィナンシャルタイムズとモエヘネシーのクラブディナーです　

back in Tokyo – I attended a club dinner hosted by the Financial Times & Moët Hennessy　

SONYコンピュータサイエンス研究所の北野先生のお話のあとジャポネフレンチのディナー

シャンパンに始まり、ワイン、そして勿論コニャックを味わい会話が弾みました

私のテーブルでは円高とアートのお話　久しぶりにリラックスできて楽しかった

the keynote speech was by a chief researcher Dr.Kitano from SONY Computer Science Lab followed by a Japanese-French course menu -I let my hair down and enjoyed several interesting conversations about `the strong Yen’ and `the Arts’ – !? – oh well, it was a Champagne, wine and Cognac night

これ、ふすま絵　福井江太郎の作品　東銀座の老舗料亭 花蝶（かちょう）です

BTW, this was painted by Koutaro Fukui on the sliding doors in the Japanese restaurant `KACHO Ginza’

YAYOI NIGHT . . . 28 August, 11:05 pm

明日で草間弥生展が終了します　今夜は「三本木小唄 YAYOI NIGHT」　

地元の名曲三本木小唄をオレンジのお帽子姿（カツラをつけて）で踊りました

踊り手が締めている帯は地元伝統工芸の南部裂き織り

we held a Bonodori dancing event, `Sanbongikouta Yayoi night’ – we wore Kusama’s signature wig and danced to celebrate the end of our Kusama show – all the dancers wore Towada woven sashes

春に草間彌生さんが立たれたこの場所で 私たちも一晩だけ「彌生になってみたい」

the one and only, Yayoi Kusama visited this art square in the Spring – `we want to be YAYOI tonight’ – she is extraordinary, legendary and visionary

12月に壊される旧松木屋デパート屋上でも踊りました

看板に屋号を投影し感謝を込めて　草間さんに　松木屋に

300人程が参加した YAYOI NIGHT　華やかなフィナーレとなりました

200 hundred people turned up and had a great time – it was a magical YAYOI NIGHT (the video is currently being edited)

あいちトリエンナーレのオープニングです　　20年ぶりに名古屋へ

24ヶ国から130組ものアーティストが参加する都市の祝祭　切り取ってみました

I went to an opening of Aichi Triennale 2010, entitled ‘arts and cities’ – it’s the first international art festival the city of Nagoya has ever held – 130 artists from 24 different countries participated – enjoy exciting Nagoya

見上げると　looking up

横からみるとへちまみたい　gherkin-esque

下を見ると　looking down

これも床の作品　お砂糖でできている　Tim Burton like world on the floor – made with sugar

繊維街の長者町　古いお店が展示空間に　the old town, Choja became a huge exhibition area

天井から窓、畳にまで描く　from the ceiling to the window to the Tatami mat 　

これ、お豆腐で出来た仏陀　Buddha – made with Tofu

お醤油が御慈悲の象徴？　部屋中が微妙に匂います　

「人生は短い」との教えでしょうか この数時間後に崩壊したそうです

this Buddha has a soy-source fountain on the top of his head – the entire room smelt – unfortunately, he collapsed afterward – `life is short’ a message from Tofu Buddha

そして、やっぱり　and of course

前衛芸術家 草間彌生さま登場　THE artist, Yayoi Kusama with her new work

初日の入場者がすでに1万人とか　大規模なインスタレーション、街を使った展示、映像作品（小泉明郎が印象に残る）、パフォーマンス、演劇（平田オリザのロボット演劇見ました）ダンスにオペラ　

ダイナミズムを感じるアートフェスティバル　もっともっと見たいからまた足を運びます

it’s a dynamic art festival – 10,000 people turned up for the fist day – huge installations, small exhibits, videos, performances, play(I saw robots and humans on the stage together), opera etc. – I’m going back there to see more AICHI TRIENNALE 2010
